Was this a networking event or a REALLY cool field trip?
Our latest Multi-Chamber event was hosted by our new friends at Boston MedFlight and they did not disappoint.
Here is what you may not know about Boston MedFlight:
1. It’s a nonprofit organization.
Boston MedFlight is a nonprofit critical care transport service that provides lifesaving medical transport regardless of a patient’s insurance status or ability to pay. Each year, it provides millions of dollars in free and unreimbursed care.
2. It’s more than just helicopters.
While many people think of the iconic helicopters, Boston MedFlight also operates critical care ground ambulances and a medically equipped jet for longer-distance transports. All of its vehicles function as mobile intensive care units (ICUs).
3. It has been saving lives for over 40 years.
Founded in 1985 by a consortium of Boston hospitals, Boston MedFlight completed its very first patient transport on June 26, 1985—making this year its 41st year of service.
4. Its crews provide ICU-level care during transport.
Every transport team includes highly trained critical care clinicians, such as flight nurses and flight paramedics, who can perform advanced lifesaving procedures while en route to the hospital.
5. It serves much of New England from multiple bases.
Boston MedFlight operates from five strategically located bases, allowing it to respond quickly to emergencies across Massachusetts and parts of New Hampshire, transporting more than 6,000 patients each year.
Shoutout to the staff for making us feel welcome. Also to Jennifer and the other “tour guides” (AKA Life Savers) that showed us around.
Thank you to the Lexington Chamber and the Bedford Area Chamber for organizing!
