[gdlr_heading tag=”h2″ font_weight=”bold” ]About the Event[/gdlr_heading]

In addition to over 20 mouth watering varieties of Mac ‘n Cheese, we will have games, prizes and contests too! All proceeds will benefit the North Suburban YMCA’s summer food service program.

Summer doesn’t take a summer vacation and the YMCA of Greater Boston is working to make sure that no children go hungry when school is closed this summer. While over 70% of Boston students receive free or reduced-price meals during the school year, many of these children do not get enough to eat when school is out. The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) ensures that all children continue to grow and learn during the summer. Kids who get enough to eat and have safe activities to participate in during the summer are less likely to get into trouble. Our summer meals program is a building block in the community for healthy, happy kids who are ready to learn.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Family price is $25.

Sponsorship opportunities available and are a fun and affordable way to help support the YMCA and increase visibility in the community. Sponsors can bring promotional items, information and signage. Sponsors will also receive recognition on our website, social media and in event PR.

This event is created and organized by HERE, the Hospitality Entertainment & Restaurant Exchange of the Woburn Chamber of Commerce in partnership with our HERE member businesses. The Woburn Chamber of Commerce encourages everyone to shop local and buy local!

Within the next decade, Millennials are on track to account for over half of the U.S. workforce. The problem that exists is Human Resource Directors and Talent Managers are having a difficult time attaining and retaining millennials in the work force. This presentation will not only discuss the currently accepted “best practices” in that pursuit, but also whether there is solid research to support these techniques and offerings. It will explore the questions: what do companies really know and what needs to be done to improve their understanding of millennial motivations?

It is what we don’t know and should know about this generation to proactively attain and retain in the workplace.

Tad Mayer is a career coach, trainer, and speaker, as well as an executive coach. He empowers professionals to advance and has co-authored the forthcoming book Own the Job Hunt.

Our November 1st Annual Celebration was a wonderful night, honoring the best in Woburn and highlighting the partnership between business and community. Together we raised over $5,300.00 for our Humanitarian Award Winners, The Tanner Ta Ta Foundation. Erin Ficociello, co-founder of the Ta Ta’s shared with us her mysterious theory about a historic memorial in Woburn center and the magnetic connections that draw people to the city. Those connections are the secret of the success of the foundation and are at the heart of the amazing work they do.

[gdlr_heading tag=”h2″ font_weight=”bold” ]2017 Business of the Year, Northern Bank[/gdlr_heading]

Every year the Woburn Chamber of Commerce chooses a business that has shown significant growth, innovation, and commitment to community to be their Business of the Year. Northern Bank is that business for 2017. The award was presented by Woburn’s City Council President, Richard Haggerty. In his speech Rich highlighted that is was a special honor to,

Recognize a family company that has played such an important role in our civic, philanthropic and business community in Woburn for over 65 years…Their entrepreneurial spirit shows in their support of new business and growth. They took what seemed a risky move, investing in their headquarters on Mishawum Road at a time when the economy was bleak and many chose to stay on the sidelines…They have been named the #1 performing Community Bank in New England for seven straight years.

Accepting on behalf of Northern Bank was James Mawn, President & CEO. He told the story of grit and determination that drove two businessmen, James and Thomas Mawn, who struggled to find funding for their business to start a bank of their own. The secret of Northern Bank’s success lies in their commitment to support the entrepreneurial spirit and be willing to take risks.
