The Woburn Chamber of Commerce is welcoming a new President to the Board, Thomas Stirling of Stirling Technologies (right). He is shown in this photo with our outgoing president, Andrew Hackett of Team Logic IT. Andy was honored at our Annual Meeting with a plaque commemorating his extended time as our President.

As Vice President for the last two years, Stirling’s goal has been to bring the association into the digital age with enhanced member communication through social media and an enhanced online presence. He has also worked to expand outreach with the community and started a speaker series with the library back in 2014 which highlights the innovation taking place in Woburn.

After graduating from The University of Vermont with his degree in business and computer science, Tom founded Stirling Technologies, a full-service web design and development firm located in Winchester. The company provides businesses and nonprofit organizations custom websites, web/mobile applications and marketing strategies. They have partnered with and launched engaging sites for Woburn Public Library, Boys and Girls Club, and Woburn Community Ed Foundation to name a few.

When asked about his goals as president Stirling said: ”The core goal has always been to continue to make Woburn a great place for businesses. Whether it’s a large corporation, startup or someone working from home; we want to help you succeed and make sure that you are well represented in city hall.”

At the Woburn Chamber of Commerce we would like to take a moment to Thank Rachel Floyd from Janis Research. Rachel recently presented for our Innovation Series at the library. Her audience was treated to an informative and fun look at cryogenics, cryogenic research and application. Janis Research is a company built on inspiration, hard work, innovation and a deep love of scientific research. They have custom built a facility on Wildwood Avenue from which they hope to never leave. It is thoughtfully designed for the work they currently do with room for future expansion. The cryogenic instruments being designed and built by Janis Research right here in Woburn are shipped around the world and used in a myriad of exciting ways. Thank you Rachel for giving us a glance into this interesting world and for taking the time to share it with us. Thanks also to Ann Carroll from Janis Research for her assistance  as well as to Woburn Public Library for hosting and cultivating this speaker series.
