[gdlr_heading tag=”h2″ font_weight=”bold” ]Our_Annual_Meeting_Honors_2016[/gdlr_heading]

Our Annual Meeting is more than a time to take care of Association business. It is a time to celebrate and honor some of the best parts of the year. Included in that is our yearly surprise of our recipient of the Humanitarian Award. The Business of the Year Award is given to a business who has had an exceptional year based upon growth, community involvement or other substantial developments. The business climate of the upcoming year is addressed and this year the conversation will surround the passage of the new Marijuana Legislation. Specifically we will examine how it will impact business. The evening will begin at 5:30 pm on December 6th at the Crowne Plaza.

[gdlr_heading tag=”h2″ font_weight=”bold” ]Holiday_Celebration[/gdlr_heading]
Our Holiday Celebration is graciously being planned by Catherine Stevens and her team at the Crowne Plaza/Scoreboards. We will enjoy delicious passed hor d’ouerves, a carving station as well as a pasta station. While we wine and dine we can browse the items up for auction to benefit the Council of Social Concern. Our members have generously donated a huge variety of items and with 100% of the proceeds going to the Council, you can shop and do good at the same time!

2016 has been a year of great growth and excitement at the Woburn Chamber of Commerce. Please come and help us celebrate our success and move forward into 2017 with great hope and faith that more is on the horizon.

[gdlr_heading tag=”h2″ font_weight=”bold” ]The Young Professionals[/gdlr_heading]

This past July, the Woburn Chamber of Commerce hosted a networking event for Young Professionals at Tocci Building Co. in Woburn. It was huge success. Huge. We had games and food and a keg of Lord Hobo beer that we successfully and professionally finished. It was a great time of getting to know young professionals and businesses in the area (and having fun).

Friends of Katherine Wall
Katherine Wall was a 3-sport athlete at Arlington High School and UMASS Boston. She excelled at soccer, ice hockey, and softball. She was inducted into the UMASS Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013. Soon after graduating from UMASS at the age of 23, Katherine was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation -an aggressive treatment with the hopes that the cancer would not return. She remained cancer free for almost 4 years until the cancer was found again in her lymph nodes. She again endured another surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation with strength and hope that this time the cancer would be gone. Unfortunately that was not the case. Katherine always approached life and her diagnosis with courage, humor, and hope that a cure would be found soon.

That did not happen, and on September 2, 2015, Katherine died peacefully at home. She went on her terms with courage, grace, and dignity surrounded with love. So in the end cancer didn’t win, Katherine did like always.

The Friends of Katherine Wall is a fund to award scholarships to seniors from Arlington High School. The recipients are athletes who may have struggled in some other way throughout his/her school career. In 2016, two scholarships were awarded and the Friends of Katherine Wall hope to continue this each year in Katherine’s memory.

Katherine’s mother, Jeanne Wall, leads the Friends of Katherine Wall.
